Imogen Stidworthy

Imogen Stidworthy is an artist working in Liverpool. Her work of has dealt with the voice, spoken language, its relation to qualities of sound and the possibility of communication. In some of them, like the recent: ‘Anyone Who Had a Heart', where two impersonators of the seventies cult singer Cilla Black were asked to project the famous song Anyone Who Had a Heart in a sound studio in which the sound was completely not projected back. The idea of projection and ‘staging' of the self is extending the initial interest in language and its physical translation. Elements which must construct meaning acquire an acoustic and spatial-constructive dimension in her works. She provided for the script in her role as sound manager, talking about sound in the first stage, July 2004, Rotterdam. For A C_ B__ in the Polyphonic Stage, October 2004 Hoogvliet, she performed the same role and worked with the recording.
